The posted compensation range of $26.82 - $44.26 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

As our Power Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the routine maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning of boilers, chillers, and all central plant equipment.

Every day, you will meticulously maintain mechanical equipment such as engines, compressors, generators, pumps, and steam boilers during your assigned shifts. Your vigilance and technical skills will ensure the continuous and safe operation of critical power generation and HVAC systems.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong technical aptitude for mechanical systems, a keen eye for maintenance needs, and a commitment to safety and operational efficiency. Your ability to perform routine checks and preventative care will be crucial in maintaining reliable facility services.

Responsibilities include:

• Responsible for regularly starting, stopping, and adjusting or regulating equipment, as necessary to properly condition the facility.
• Monitors meters and gauges, manipulating valves and machinery to keep readings within the specific requirements. Demonstrates the ability to maintain, operate, and change parameters or messages on the HVAC computer system to maintain proper comfort conditions.
• Regularly takes water samples and applies chemical tests to determine water makeup and properly applies the chemicals as needed. Performs routine maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning of boilers and central plant equipment on a daily basis.
• Makes regular repair and inspection rounds of the facility as requested. Performs other duties as assigned (i.e., assists with hospital emergencies on and off shift, evenings or nights).
• Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, performing a variety of general maintenance, repair, overhaul, construction duties, painting, wallpapering, structural repairs, changes light bulbs, snow removal, etc.
• Recognizes and corrects unsafe practices and conditions as needed. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures and meets all applicable codes. Comprehensive understanding of equipment operation, building systems, emergency procedures, and the ability to successfully provide service as needed. Responsible for accurate and timely completion of documentation in Computer Maintenance Management System, i.e., work orders, equipment, and area records. Maintains all required records and information for all regulatory agencies. Prioritizes work and responds quickly to requests for assistance.

Job Requirements:

Required:

• High School Diploma/G.E.D.

Preferred:

• Certified Stationary Engineer
• Underground Storage Tank Op A or B
• Two (2) years of power plant operator experience
